This guy obviously played before Tommy John Surgery or his arm troubles would have been resolved sooner.

And the Athletics were clearly so in need of pitching before Hudson, Zito and Mulder that they either dug this guy up from the Athletics' family cemetery, hired a vampire and thought no one would notice or went through the Connie Mack- Charlie Finley time warp machine to get him ! 

Not to mention he had to take a more than 50% pay cut to play again after waiting 78 years ! Must have been Finley or Mack that handled the negotiations. Penny pinchers both.
