So former players become coaches on the game just like in real life. Why not have a contract option where upon retirement they can become a coach and you have first crack at him. I have best hitter is the history of my league and I would give anything to give him the opportunity to be a hitting coach in my org.

You have first option on them in the coach re-hiring phase automatically.

thats not the pont im trying to make. Id rather have the guy i love as a minor league coach than fill in the blank coach

That's one of the problems with coach hiring.  I can't name one coach on any of my teams.   But, if someone says "Has anyone ever tried a player like this?", I can usually recall the player's name and roughly when I used him.

Right, but if they come back as a coach, you will get first crack at them.   I guess the only thing your change could do would be to somehow guarantee it.

correct, in all of my years playing ive never seen one of my former players. If you could offor it he can always turn it down.
