I recently made a horrible error that I hope nobody else ever makes.
After coaching UNC the last few seasons in Rupp (my dream job), I just lost them due to an unfortunate timing error. In order to get a redshirt for my Cal team in another World, I needed to move a season over. I moved it over from the one 1 extra it showed I had remaining for my UNC team. Little did I realize that Rupp World turned over later that night, leaving me with no seasons left and no e-mail warning me I'd lose my team if i didn't pony up for new seasons. In the past, those emails have saved me the odd time. In this situation though, there wasn't time for that cursory email warning to be sent to me.
This was an extra-ordinarily bone-headed move that I just want to prevent anyone else from ever making. Of all the temas it had to happen to, it would have to be my UNC team :-(
I contacted customer support, and here was their response - "Unfortunately we can't put you back on the team at this point. There are four coaches with better resumes who have a applied for the job. The one possibility left is to contact the new coach (when one is hired) and ask him to give the team back. We are willing to put you back if that coach is agreeable and there is a satisfactory job that we can move him to."
So it's looking pretty hopeless now as I can't imagine any coach agreeing to this once they get that coveted job.
Anyway, a hard lesson to learn for me and hopefully no one else has to go through something like this. It's truly kind of depressing after years of building toward an Elite program like that.
