Way, way more left handed pitchers than in real baseball!

This should be righted, right away!

Dear Mr. President,

There are too many states nowadays. Please eliminate three.

P.S. I am NOT a crackpot.

Let's see... 57 states minus 3 equals....

But, address the topic!

As a a southpaw I resent this thread.

How ironic.  I was just lamenting to a co-worker about LH pitchers in HBD.  He doesn't play the game, nor does he really care, but he IS a very good listener.  Or maybe he's just asleep again.  Either way, I've complained at length to him about how regularly my lefty starters get shelled in games.  I have a couple that buck the trend, but overall, I would prefer to have all RHP in my rotation.  The sim hates southpaws.  But it loves you hypno.

(I didn't say they tended to be good, you know.)

 Better deft than left!

GIVE TEXAS +ARIZONA BACK TO MEXICO

GIVE MISSISSIPPI TO ANYBODY DUMB ENOGH TO TAKE IT

Is anyone going to bother to check the validity of this?    I can tell you that about 65% of HBD AB come against RH pitchers(give or take a % or two each season).  How does that compare to MLB?
8/26/2012 7:53 AM
From what I can tell, based on full-season 2011 MLB data, around 73% of all MLB plate appearances came against RHP.

The abundance of lefties is a given, Arlen. What should one expect with P ratings colored red?

As to WIS personnel, since there are none left in the building, that issue is moot.

Looks like the average HBD team gets about 5700 AB per season.   8% equals 456 AB.  Even if you sway the percentage 2% to account for seasonal variability, it's still 6+ games of AB per team.    That is pretty substantial.

Doing a little research like that would probably help arlen's complaints.    Of course, he's not going to do that.

"GIVE MISSISSIPPI TO ANYBODY DUMB ENOGH TO TAKE IT"

Or "dumb enough" to take it.

I will not editorialize.

BTW,

In Capra last year (NL/Yr. 24), almost exactly 40% of the AB's were against LHP.  Splits were .263-.321-.414 vL and .255-.316-.393 vR.

In Season 23 39% of the AB's were vL.  Splits were .264-.322-.423 vL and .254-.316-.401 vR

In the actual 2012 MLB NL (as of yesterday), 30% of the AB's (20451/68625) were vL.  Splits were .250-.312-.399 vL and .255-.320-.402 vR.

In '11 the splits were .251-.320-391 vL and .253-318-.391 vR.

So it appears in Capra that our vR splits are nearly right on with actual MLB NL results.  Our vL splits are somewhat better, about 12 pts in average, about 5 pts in OBP and about 22 pts in slg%.   And we see more lefties.  A guy would have to study a whole bunch of pitchers to find if the improved performance vR is due to lesser quality lefty pitchers.

Or to put it in terms of saling, HBD is "heaved to" in the wind and the crew below decks?

Then I say MUTINY!!

It's time for a coup d'etat against these reds!  Bring on the Junta!

BTW, it's still funny how MikeT23 can find that the data he himself works conflicts with his contentions, yet he claims they support them.

Why, Mike, you could be one of our presidential candidates, I think!

Or, maybe try your hand in the field of global climate science.

And BTW, I did not say there are too many at bats or plate appearances vs. left handed pitchers.  I said there are too many left handed pitchers.
