First time I've seen this in a boxscore...of course it happens to me with 1 out and the bases loaded to end the inning.

A.Fox lines out to 3B. He takes it himself to third to double off D.Ennis.

Nice to see some extra reality placed into the sim.

What does "he takes it himself to third " mean ? That is bizarre. First of all he lined out to 3B, so I assume "He" here was meant to refer to the 3B, not to the batter - but the SIM needs a grammar lesson or else something very strange went on in this game and it calls for an inquiry.

Actually, the sentence is fine - the antecedent of 'he' is '3B' as 3B refers to the person playing third base, not the base itself.  The antecedent is usually the noun most closely preceding the anaphor.

BTW, it's nice to have you back, italyprof.  Hope the family wasn't too exhausting.

I still think "He" as the sentence is constructed refers grammatically (not in fact of course) to Fox, the batter (I was not suggesting it referred to the base itself).

Thanks pinotfan, gradually coming out of my hole, it has been a stressful summer and work realities hit immediately upon my return. Bit by bit I am getting back into a routine, but  "groove" would be overstating it. I still owe you a merciless critique of your merciless critique of my article on prayer, and a reply to your spiritually profound but also misguided critique of the same article boogerlips.

I am still a little behind schedule for a while yet and catching up.
