Can someone explain what these are? I'm not familiar with them at all. If there is already a thread dedicated to this, please let me know.

Thanks in advance,

I think you're supposed to put in the ratings you'd like to see for each "role" you set and then use that to search during recruiting.

That's not 100% - I haven't used this feature yet myself, but that's how it looks like it's supposed to work.

found a few threads by using the search function of the forums and typing in player roles and setting the time frame to 3 months - bumped the longest of these for you...

The basic idea is you can set what you find important per position and use it to search for players that BEST meet that criteria. for example, if you find passing and bh most important for a pg, you would save those attributes at a higher percentage. Then you can use it to search recruits, or determine who on your roster is best for a position based on the criteria you set. They will be given a rating based on the criteria, and the higher the rating, the better the match.

It could be useful in recruiting if it could factor in potential.  At present it can't so it's totally useless for recruiting.  I might be happy to sort and examine recruits this way, but at least for now I'll stick with the spreadsheet.

personally i dont use it for recruiting because it does not factor potential, but it is interesting to use for setting your depth chart. Sometimes you may have 2 who are not that far off from each other in ratings, or maybe one guy has better ratings, but lower IQ. Using this will help you determine how closely the player matches what you prefer in the position and might show you something.

Another good use is if you don't know which position to start a guy. Maybe you have a guard that could play decent pg or sg, based on your preferred ratings, it will help you determine where he would be more effective. ex, if the guard rates at a 65 at one position over a 61 at the other position, i'll play him where he's a 65.

taniajane, I think you missed the purpose a little. I'll agree with you its fairly useless in recruiting because of not factoring potential, but it's not meant to have the recruit tell you what he plays, its better used for you to determine what he should play.

Ultimately though, all of this can be done with eyeball test. It is just something interesting to play with.
