I have seen it said on these forums that teams that get a player to consider them early have an advantage, but I am wondering if anyone has ever quantified that advantage. How much more expensive is it to jump on a player in Day 2 that has been considering one team since the first cycle? Or any other examples along those lines.

I believe considering credit doesn't kick in until ~24 hours (very rough estimate, as far as I know it hasn't been pinned down by someone who's willing to put it on the forums) after recruiting has started, so if you're putting in effort on day 2, you're at no disadvantage.  Also, recruiting credit is a very small amount.

When the original Admin (the guy who created the game)  instituted considering credit, he told us that it started "somewhere" around the second day, but never gave a concrete answer (which was good).  I also tend to believe that the credit is a small amount after seeing firsthand some last cycle recruiting work very effectively.

never was clear - still isnt clear - whether it is after 24 hours of recruiting or on the second day (measured as of what time zone?)  I think that ambiguity is good

Clear that the effect is modest - I think of it as if the effort starts to accrue interest.  How much?  Dont know.  Wish it were more.

It sounds like it's more of a myth than anything else, a mild benefit that has no real world effect is essentially non-existent for practical purposes

Exist it does.  Doubt this not.  Influence on the decision of a recruit, unknown is this.  Little green guy.

It does exist.  Its really hard to quantify in all situations.  I think if you are on a guy from go and someone jumps in really late (cycle or 2 before signings), at D1, the amount is 10-30%.  But it only amplifies what you spent the first day.  So its usually a small amount, even at D1, since if people put 30 home visits in cycle one (~$10k), that's an extra 3-9 HVs, which isn't that much ($1-3k).

is it even that much? 3-9 HVs could easily turn the tide in a very close battle I'd think. Someone must have studied this closer at some time, right?? Beuhler?

I know plenty of races I would have loved 3 -9 home visits in.
