The Knight Upstate was the 3rd-ranked conference this season in Knight D3. We brought in just short of $3000/team in postseason money for recruiting next season (11 NT games, 2 PIT games). We did all of this with 4 human coaches. A couple of the sim teams look like very interesting takeovers for next season for any coaches interested in getting into Knight D3 in a conference with the foundation to become very strong very quickly.
Rensselaer - These guys are going to have 7 seniors next year. They aren't great seniors, but a couple of them aren't bad and it could easily be enough to make the NT and maybe even win a game or 2 if you find the right JUCO to bring in.
Hamilton - This is a team that will have 6 seniors next year, and they're a decently athletic group for a bunch of sim-recruited guys. They also have 6 openings for you to recruit with, so you're going to have all your own players within 2 years here. Obviously the interesting part will be balancing the classes, unless of course you just want to roll with the unbalanced classes and try to have a huge year 3 seasons down the road...
Brandeis - 7 seniors, couple of junior SFs, the talent is average but the turnover would be quick.
Case Western Reserve - Another one with 6 seniors next year. Again, they're not great, although you do have one guard with 90+ PER. Not much else, but he can shoot it...
Washington (Mo.) - 8 (EIGHT!) seniors on this one. They're really not very good, but if you feel you can recruit 7 or 8 guys at once you could put together a pretty big team in a hurry here.
Honestly, the ultimate message from all this is that with 4 decent human-coached teams and 5 teams with at least 6 seniors, the Upstate is poised to have a very big season next year in Knight D3. Seems like a great time to jump into an already-solid conference.
