Rescinding a scholarship Topic

I haven't done this in 20+ seasons but am considering it at the end of this season. Given A+ loyalty/reputation, would there be a significant negative effect from rescinding one scholarship player? Does it matter whether I rescind a freshman versus senior?

if its one that you recruited you might get a rep hit down to A or A- it'll come back within 2-3 seasons.

I actually just rescinded a scholarship last season of someone I recruited and have not seen my Loyalty/Reputation take any hit (still at A+).  maybe it's different for D3?

This season (in D3), I rescinded a scholarship to a senior that I recruited. My Reputation went from A+ to B+.

I was fully expecting mine to take a hit also, but it hasn't yet...maybe for some reason it will after this season? I cut him after last season though.

the rep hit is instantaneous. was it a player you didn't recruit? with a full a+, i think its like the 3rd player you cut who will knock you to an A. with players you recruit, its a different story (that a+ to b+ sounds about right, although i honestly thought a full a+ only went to a-, but really its not something i make it a priority to be an expert on... or maybe the poster didn't have a "full" a+).

when are we able to cut players?  is it after the season rolls over or after the tourneys (during jobs period)?

Didn't know you played.

It is before recruiting begins (maybe even into recruiting) after the rollover.

I believe you can cut players right up to the last recruiting cycle before signings.  Once signings start you can no longer rescind a scholarship

@ billyg
It was, I had recruited him the season before as a low rated FR hoping he would improve in his cores. He didn't at all, so I cut him.
