State Scouting for the following season Topic

So I have nearly $2,000 left from this season's recruit, and it lets you see the recruit prospects of next season even during the current season. I saw that you can go and pay for state scouting for next season's prospects. Given the fact that the money you have this season is added up to next season by 25% (so I will get additional $500 the following season with this season's $2000 leftovers), it would be wise to spent the $2000 for scouting now then do the scouting next season when that $2000 will deduct to $500. So I haven't made the scouting states yet, but I wanted to ask you that if indeed you pay now you will be able to see the potential of the players, but not only right now, will you be able to see the potential of the players the following season.

So to put it in conclusion, given the facts I stated, then it would be the wise thing to do the scouting before next season starts, so that $2000 won't deduct to $500 of the following season, so you got that extra cash to scout now. Just confirm that this is the case so I know to go ahead and use my $2000 for scouting now before next season starts and no money is wasted.

I'm a little confused.  The 25% reduction occurs immediately after recruiting is done, before the next season starts. Your team is in Smith, which is currently still playing.  So your  $2,000 should've already been reduced 25% from $8,000 that you had left from last season. Right?

If so, that $2,000 will carry over completely for next season's recruiting + tournament money + money for scholarships

ok, i thought I was left with $2000 from the end of the season but now that you mention it I vaguely recall I did have about $8000, so the %25 was already deducted so it doesn't matter if i did the scouting now or next season in this case.

If you think your team prestige may drop as a result of the current season, it is often a good idea to do scouting before the prestige change takes place -- making note of which kids appear at your division level now and comparing to who is there after your prestige drops is a good way to ID kids that could be very easy/cheap pulldowns from inside your 360-mile circle.

ok, but what you see in the scouting list now, once the new season starts and if your prestige changes, then you will see different group of guys who once were div I. and now div II if your prestige went up and vice versa if it went down, it's not like if you expect the prestige to go down, you can restore guys who are div II where if you did scouting when new season began, they be div I, am I right on that?

No, you can't "restore" them -- you'll have to treat them like a pulldown/dropdown -- but knowing they were on your division's list when you were at a higher prestige can still be a tip-off that they're guys you can go after.

Say you're a D2 coach with a B+ prestige. You scout a state during the season and it shows 30 recruits on your D2 list. At the end of the season, your prestige drops to a B-. If you repeat the search, you might see only 26 of those 30 recruits at D2, while the 4 names that vanished now show up on your D1 list. The fact you know those four players were once showing D2 for you is a tip-off that they can probably be pulled down quickly and cheaply and/or that they'll likely drop down early in the recruiting cycles (often before signings start, unless your prestige really tanked). You can use that information to plan a recruiting strategy -- either by firing off an early salvo to pull the player down before he shows to other similar coaches in your region. It can also help save you money in that pulldown effort -- maybe you're a guy that typically shoots off 10 scouting trips to try pulling someone down. Knowing they were once a D2 player, you might scale that back to just 5 SV's because you know it won't take as much effort to get the kid to drop, saving yourself money for other battles.  Also, knowing that a guy once showed at your division gives you a hint at times that you can be patient, knowing the kid will probably drop down quickly, saving money you would have spent trying to pull him down.

Ok that's what I figured from your initial explanation, thank you for clarifying that rednu.

FWIW, looks like prestige will go up due to the 1st round appearance NT season... maybe just to a B... or B+? (from a B-)
