slowdown on the road Topic

Looking through a conference coach's recent game, he played slowdown on the road. His opponent also played slowdown. The coach from my conference seems to have had the clear edge in player ability. I guess by the logic of "uptempo if superior slowdown if inferior"... if I had his team, I might have played uptempo in this game. But he won with slowdown...

Besides simply feeling that you are outmatched why else do you run slowdown? To keep your starting 5 on the court for more minutes? And when playing on the road does playing slowdown do something to take away the home court advantage for the other team?

I guess the answers to these questions will be more opinion than fact, not sure. Bring 'em on.

I run slowdown a lot with the press. I think this is somewhat unusual, but my pressing teams have a tendency to foul too much (maybe I just haven't recruited really good defense yet), and if they get in foul trouble, my bench stamina isn't good enough to avoid playing a lot in the red. So I slow it down to minimize fouls. It definitely works for that. The question is whether it's worth the other costs of slowdown (for instance, higher variance)

No bench/.depth = slow down
Huge FT% disparity (unfavorable) = slowdown
