Mutual Option Question Topic

One of my players recently suffered a "career-altering" injury.  He lost on average 8 - 10 points in all relevant categories.  He is in the fourth year of his contract with a mutual option for the fifth year.  There are only 12 games left in the season.

If I place him on the DL, will I be able to decline his option?  Or will I need to keep him active?  I was not planning on keeping him prior to the injury, so I definitely don't want to keep him now.

I don't want to make a noob mistake and cost myself $9 mil in salary I desparately need somewhere else.

Any info would be appreciated!

You can place him on the DL now.

Even if on the 60, he will be off of it when the next season rolls around, as there are 110(ish) days between seasons.

As far as being able to decline his option, I have never been in that situation, but I would think you will be able to decline next season.

Yes, you will be able to decline his option.

Even guys who have injuries that span the seasons are taken off the DL during rollover.
