I'm curious as to whether I'm being overly seduced by the top end projections for Player A and the idea that Player B could stick at SS.

What are your scouting budgets?

The first guy will end up a good lead-off hitter, with about .350 OBP and 40-50 SB.  He'll be a weak 2B or a good LF.   Looking at his numbers, I'm guessing the 2nd guy makes it to average qualifications for an SS, along with a bat that will turn in 30-35 HRs and an .800+ OPS.  Player A is nice to have, but Player B is a rarity.  Take B.

Player B by a landslide. Better defense at a more premium position and a better hitter. You don't pass that up for a guy who will steal more bases
