There are 25 players listed above none of the Phillies players retired after the 1961 season. As many players may be cut as the new owners desires. There are 71 players available in the 1971 Rookie draft, 38 hitters and 33 pitchers, so teams may be able to draft 4-5 players each. The players available in the Rookie draft will be posted following the available teams.
Total salary for the 25 players above is $56.428 Million-bear in mind the salary cap of $80 million. Any players cut will increase the amount that can be used in the draft. The Phillies are not likely to run into a cap issue in 1962.
Unfortunately the original owner of the Phillies did not thoroughly understand the nature of a career league and made some drafting errors. The team will have a high draft choice in Round 1 (see the weighted lottery above-the Phillies have a 40% chance of the #1 pick) and be drafting first in all other rounds so should be able to improve the team significantly.
