Babe Ruth - greatest player ever compared to other players in league (WARP).  So if you draft the Babe should you be penalized or not?

Options:

1.  No Penalty - you still have to build a team to win.
2.  Lose 2nd Round Pick.
3.  Lose 3rd Round Pick.
4.  Lose something else
5.  Babe Ruth not available in draft.

Discuss!

Personally, I think if you draft the Babe then there is no penalty.  I am interested in what other people think!

I vote lose a 2nd or 3rd (first draft is serpentine so it doesn't make a difference). However I am completely fine with no penalty. I personally can't imagine a 20's league without Ruth

I vote 1. No penalty.  He definitely should be in the league.  I also don't think there should be a penalty.  Just my opinion...

1-if there is penalty for drafting Ruth , then I would rather draft 2nd and take Hornsby .

Option 1. Play the game. Getting Ruth in a snake draft will mean everyone else will draft twice before you get another pick. Even the greatest player in history can't win by  himself.

The luck of the draw - I agree with the other posts - if you get first pick and choose to take Ruth that is the way it works out. No Penalty.

No penalty. It is just a good break for one owner, and a tough break for everybody else.

I'm not in the league, but when I first started my 3-Era progressive, 1920 was one of the intial years.  Here is what I did.  I let each owner "bid" what he would give up for the #1 pick.  Whomever bid the most, got that pick.  The rest of the owners were randomized.  The person who got #1, bid a 2nd and 4th.  Which meant they didn't pick in those rounds, but instead replaced those picks at the end.  Having Ruth in his prime in a progressive league (with no salary cap) is a HUGE advantage.  Let people bid.

I came as far from Ruth as possible (12th overall). I love having a pick on the end of the round though.

I think we should discuss divisional alignment and trading of future draft picks. I think the more future draft picks you can trade the more flexibility you have, and therefore the more trades you will have overall. I guess the argument against that is the worry someone will leave a team without any future picks.

I agree trading draft picks is a good idea -- anything to improve a team.  Most of us are experienced owners -- for now I'd say only trade next years draft picks, but if things go well we could go up to two draft years away......
