Taking away a scholarship during recruiting phase Topic

I am thinking about cutting a player during the recruiting period right before signing starts. Will this negatively affect me?

I do it all the time and I haven't ever noticed any serious negative effect.

if the player was recruited by prior coach, no risk

if the player was recruited by you, some tiny risk

small risk that another player might leave with him - small small if you cut just one

im in the recruiting period, will this affect anyone interested in my school?

It shouldn't.   If it does, you won't notice.

I literally cut someone this morning on my D3 team in Knight.   I didn't notice anything.

Even if you are a new coach, you run the risk that a player quits in solidarity. In my experience, the less players you cut, the lower the risk.

I have never seen it happen when cutting one player.  No doubt, it has happened.

I have seen a second player quit after I assume his friend was cut by a coach in his first season after taking over a program. Just once, however.

I also now and then recruit guys with WE below 20 - I think it helps to have something in common with my players
