FCP Conspiracy Theory Topic

Does anyone think setting double teams can somehow be beneficial while playing Press defense?  I know it says that you can't double team in press (because you're presumably doing it all the time) but I've seen and exploited holes in code and things that "couldn't/can't be done" before, so I'm just curious if you're down with this conspiracy theory.

I run press at New Orleans and have never set double teams while there, but my big thing is, why isn't it disabled...why aren't we somehow barred from doing it...that's what has intrigued me.  I know on the whole, most guys are down on double teams in HD in general (with M2M and zones), but do you think there's anything to this?  I recall someone saying something about cs/seble slipping, talking about setting double teams in FCP?  Thoughts?

No. I've run it, and I can confirm there is no effect from double teams out of an FCP. If you run a zone press or a man press, you can, full press, no.

This was one of the secrets to success in HD. Even after they "claimed" double teams wouldn't work in FCP I'd do it routinely.

Basically what would happen is the guy who got doubled would shoot on average 10-20% and turn the ball over at least 3 times. So basically if a team had a player with high dist they'd be screwed if they played me. Balanced teams negated it. So i'd schedule accordingly. Cherry picking coaches who liked to have one big scorer.

Funny thing was that if I doubled more than 1 guy it didn't work at all. The 2+ players would go nuts typically and I'd get destroyed.

I stopped doing it because I didn't really need it and once you got to the NT most team in there had balanced dist so I'd rather use my regular season games to practice against teams like that.

Okay Tanner, sure.  And I suppose you're still claiming not to be Tmacfan12 either, huh?

tanner - really?  I cant say that I have tried it in ages.  I am sure that admin once said double teams have no effect in FCP - but some dev chats have led us astray in the past.  Like, maybe he meant no effect on x,y and z but you didnt ask about q? or no noticeable effect?

is it possible that this is a forum fact and the colonel is right?

Well, I can say from having run plenty of press teams I have never seen an effect, and I specifically looked for it.

colonels, I'm assuming it's not disabled because teams have the option of change defensive sets at different points in the game, such as winning or losing late. Then again, it could be disabled if non of those options were selected in the "Team Game Plan", but that just might be overkill...unless that is exactly what they want us to think....

he grew up and moved out of his parents house?

This is why I'll never be good at this game.....I haven't taken the time to learn the "code" as opposed to what should happen in a basketball sense. haha
