Better pitching coach Topic

I've played  Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Mariano Estrada in AA the first half of this year, but I was wondering whether he'll develop better with my AA coaches or AAA coaches.

AAA PC: Pitch rating- 74; patience- 48; discipline- 69
AAA BC: pitch-35, patience- 45, discipline- 87, strategy- 79

AA PC: Pitch rating- 77; patience- 51; discipline 36
AA BC: pitch- 37, patience- 48, discipline- 65, strategy-76

I really want Estrada's pitches to improve which I've read that discpline helps the most, so it would seem to promote him to AAA, but at the same time, the AA PC has a higher pitching rating, so I was wondering where he'll develop more.

Thanks

As you may have noticed, you aren't getting responses.  Probably because nobody has a good grasp on how much discipline helps.  If it's me, I'm guessing that he'd be better at AA.

Do we even know for a fact that the coaches' ratings affect development in a statistically-significant way?  Like does a 70 IQ coach really make any discernable development difference than a 65 IQ, or does it just "seem" like it does?  And how does patience and discipline truly function?

As for your player, it looks like his pitches skipped 1 development cycle, but I'm guessing that could just be a function of the player's own "true potential" ceiling restricting how often he gets +1 rather than a function of a coach being different from the other.  His overall rating is over-levelled for AA but his age is under-levelled so that's a good balance.  Last season you had him in A+ and moved him to AA halfway thru, so it could be fine to have started him in AA this season and move him to AAA for the 2nd half of this season.  Similarly, for next season, you could consider doing a partial AAA/partial ML schedule for him, if you think he's ready stats-wise and ratings-wise.  If he's definitely-ready, you can wait the 30 ML cycles to hold his arb clock.  Imo you're probably fine to just do what's best for your player rather than try to match him up coaches.  In my one world there is a team that hoardes IFA pitchers but constantly mis-develops them because he under-levels them (aka beings 70 overalls in Low A, etc).  Keep guidin' that player along

This question was posted and got some replies a few weeks ago.

Short summary of my reply - nobody knows.

Nobody knows the difference between 65 and 70.   Well, it's 5 points but we don't know how much it affects development.   But we do know what pitching, discipline and patience does.

This is the coach's discipline rating. The higher the rating, the more focused he'll be on the fundamentals such as bunting, throwing strikes and hitting the cutoff man. Of course, this means he'll spend less time on some of the other important aspects of his role.

This is the coach's patience rating. The higher the rating, the easier it will be for him to tolerate and coach younger players. Of course, if he's really good in the other areas, his lack of patience may be acceptable.

This is the coach's pitching IQ rating. The higher the rating, the more he'll help your players develop their pitching skills.

In that specific case, if I had a low control pitcher, he'd be in AAA.   It may only make a point or two difference but I would want that point or two.
