So, the season is winding down and the Int'l prospect market was garbage so I have some extra $$$ sitting in my player payroll.  Almost 4 Million.  Can I somehow use this cash to add some talent to my team?  I only have one player that will negotiate with me long term and I have no interest in bringing him back now so I don't think I can put it into a bonus?  Any tips or is it wasted?

You can always use player payroll dollars to add talent at any level of your team. Prospect payroll would be used for international signijgs. If you have 4m there, you can transfer that into player payroll. However there's a 50% penalty for doing that, so in actuality you'd have 2m additional to spend.

Appreciate the response, but I wasn't clear.  

Had 7.9m in left over prospect $.  Made a 6m transfer to player payroll since there is not prospects for me to spend on.  So now I have 3.9m in surplus player payroll with no planned use?  Just looking to somehow burn that $ up on something useful instead of wasting it.

you can sign free agents. they'll only be signed for the rest of the season, but you'll have exclusive re-signing rights come next season.

agreed. but he wants something cosmetic to do with his leftover $. that's all i could think of. that or sign as many leftover intls and hope they get a diamond in the rough bump to become not a total waste of space.

If they have options, you can sign them to cheap, frontloaded two year deals and stash them in AAA for insurance next year.    As tec said, they aren't likely to be studs but, if you can identify your weaknesses, you might find a useful part.   It's better than ******* away the money.  For example, in Mantle, Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Patrick Bolton is available.    He could be used in long relief. 

That said, you need to do it before the season ends.   I don't think unsigned FA will sign once the regular season is over.

At least grab MinL filler for next season. Better to pay too much bonus to an IFA and have him fill a spot in the low minors for a few seasons than have to waste time signing FAs next season. Esp if they can field or eat innings.
