I have never used the Kingdome before but I am in a $90m theme where I might need to use it. What advice can anyone give me on how to craft a team for this stadium, and how many IP I will need?

I haven't use the Kingdome in a while and have only used it a few times, but I remember really enjoying that ballpark. Load up on OBP, Doubles, and guys that can hit HRs.  HoJo should be a beast there.  If deadball pitchers are allowed you will have a tough time in the playoffs since HRs usually don't play, so make sure you get guys that hit both Doubles and HRs.  Go with deadball pitchers yourself that don't give up the long ball.

Thanks, cwillis. As I looked things over, I got the impression that doubles would be valuable. I am wary of drafting HRs for the deadball reason you mentioned. Doubles are cheaper and HRs may default into doubles rather than singles. Is there a ceiling on how many HR/9 you would allow on your staff?

I have had a number of good teams in the Kingdome, my favorite park here to use. HRs are a factor, even despite the overwhelming dead ball pitching, though of course rarer when they pitch. But you will get some power there. OBP is important and of course pick pitchers with the lowest HR/9# you can find. I wouldn't go shorter than 1300 IP but you don't need a lot more than that if i remember correctly.

I tried to find pitchers with very low 0.something HR/9 normalized. 0.20 and then I would up the post-decimal point number until I found someone that worked or I could afford. You won't win any pitching staff awards in the kingdome but it isn't Coors either. More of a home team park than Fenway which I have still never figured out and seems to work against you as much as for you.

In a park like the KD players like Moises Alou always seem to come up with big numbers, though I can't recall a specific year. HoJo certainly should perform there though I don't think I ever used him there. Who did I have at 3B? Can't remember. Good park for Mattingly too. There are some very inexpensive Willie Randolph seasons with high OBP.

Honestly I never look at HR/9. I just look at total HRs a pitcher gives up.  If the cap is $90 mil, then by all means take Joss and then a couple cheaper SP options for a 3-man rotation. I agree with Italy that you need IP.  Do you get AAA? If so his 1300 is probably right, if not you better draft 1450.   Gaavy Cravath might be a beast  at the Kingdome too, but he will need someone on the bench to give him rest.
