gameplanning help Topic

Any gameplan tips? I find myself rolling over inexperienced weaker teams but getting destroyed by better teams. But however when I go up against a 40+season coach whether his team is stronger or weaker I tend to lose... When trying to gameplan I look at who is attackable (low DEF) on there team and then I look at the gamelog to see how many 3's they take and adjust +/- accordingly... I also change my tempo based off what I think may work... What else am I missing that is causing me to struggle against good coaches regardless of my team being stronger or weaker?

I"l pulled a few upsets but I lose far more than I win when it comes to games that are even, vegas will say PK and i'll lose by 12 or so...

(I'm going to assume you're talking about your NJC team, since your other team's only played 5 games)

Two things come to mind:
1. I don't know what fatigue or minutes settings you're using, but you're playing your starters (esp Gladney and Williams) way too much. Neither of them has a STA to support 30 mpg, and sure enough, they're getting very tired at the end of a lot of your games and shooting poorly as a result. This is also why you're giving up so many second-half leads.
2. On a related note, you're playing uptempo too much. I saw at least three games where you went uptempo vs teams that had better stamina than yours, and two of those were also more talented rosters than yours. That's a situation for normal or even slowdown, but not uptempo.

Overall, I think you were very good defensively, but really struggled on offense, esp in second halves. Part of that was just bad luck - you had a lot of close losses - but part of it was being too aggressive with your starters.

opponent players with low DEF are only attackable if playing man to man so I think you need other strategies against press or zone. also, I consider rebounding and fouling, in addition to frequency of 3 point shooting, when I adjust +/- defense.

I always pan to attack low DEF players in press as well.

Also, look for all the components of DEF (ATH, SPD, IQ, SB, DEF) not just the DEF score. And try to figure out what type of shot your players take and see if you can match them up against players with poor opposing DEF scores.

For example, the LP guard doesn't do as well agaisnt defenders with high ATH and BLOCK.
