I went into this recruiting period with no open scholarships, but I decided I wanted to cut a player in order to restructure my team. I just put effort into a player this past cycle and got the "I wish I could sign right now" message in response to the scholarship offer. However, the player still shows as undecided. It is worth noting that I did not actually cut the player from my roster until after I got the positive scholarship message as I wanted to make sure I could get him before I made the cut. Could this be the reason the recruit is still showing as undecided since I had no open scholarships at the last cycle? If that is the case, should he show up considering me in the next cycle without any more effort now that I have an open scholarship? Thanks for any info.

Yes you can't be considered by a recruit if you have a full roster. You should cut your guy quick so you actually show up on his list to discourage another coach from maybe jumping in.

I already cut the guy, but it was after the 11 am cycle where I got the scholarship message. Probably a mistake on my part to not cut him first, but its my first time going this route and I wasn't aware of that. Hopefully it doesn't come back to bite me.

And he is considering me after the 2pm cycle. I figured that would be the case but I just wanted confirmation in case I needed to do something else. Thanks for the help blackdog3377.

I wondered if some schools recruiting against me in my first season at Princeton were scared off because I had 6 scholarship openings, when in reality I had cut four players so I only had roughly 32k to play with.

It would be cool if you could spend some of your budget to pay off the news companies to not put out the story when you cut a player.

If I was actually in any kind of battle I would have come back and deleted it, or probably just not posted in the first place. But this was a very simple cut a guy and go grab a recruit that had no other attention right before signings. Normally I would have just sat back fat and happy but I had gotten myself into a position where I was very short on post players so I needed to cut a guard to sign a big.
