Starting a Walk-on Topic

Hadn't seen this before, but when gameplanning I noticed sim Coastal Carolina starts a walk-on at SG (Patterson).  It's going to be extra-embarrassing when I lose to them tonight.

I've never seen that before either. I wonder if it's because there's only one other listed SG on the roster, and the walk-on is (slightly) better than him? Sims seem to try hard to keep starting players in their listed positions.

I've never seen a sophmore walk-on before.  Is that normal?
And both walk-ons on that team would be playable at DIII.  I also didn't realize that DI walk-ons were generated better than DIII walk-ons.
