Opinion on rollover money Topic

If you have 7 or more scholarships to fill, but only get the maximum recruiting budget for six scholarships, then you should be able to carry over any money after filling only six scholarships regardless of walk-ons taken.  My opinion.

I think the reason for the 6 scholarship limit is so nobody has an unfair advantage.  And letting people save money more than other teams is also unfair.
I see you only have DI teams so I can't speak to that because I don't have a full understanding if how to succeed there, but in general, it's easier to save money when you have that many scholarships.  Since most likely your team is rebuilding and you can save money by signing guys for $110, and even get players from further distance.  Just my take.

You can take on a juco or sign a 1 year transfer to fill all 7 schlarships.

I understand and agree with the reason for the money limit.  I remember superclasses and how dominant they were.

I'm also aware that I can sign JUCOs.

My argument is, if I'm only getting money for six slots, why should I be punished for not filling 7 or 8?

That's how the system is set up and everyone plays by the same rules; no one is actually at a disadvantage under the system. It's your choice to not fill the remaining 2 slots on your team and not have carryover. No one stopped you from signing 1 year seniors to bank the cash.

Actually the extra slots are due to walk-ons from the previous season.  Not exactly something I wanted.  Technically, yes it is a disadvantage for the person filling 7 or 8 spots.

I'm not on here to throw a fit and threaten to quit the game due to this (the usual ***** and moan sessions that I see here).  Just pointing out that it really doesn't make sense.

I would like to make three points here:

1. creilmann's argument seems entirely reasonable

2. this disproportionately affects people who are taking over rebuild projects

3. very often, someone is stopping people from signing one-year seniors. namely, the other people that are signing one-year seniors. it's not like you actually receive extra money to devote to that (and I 100% agree with no receiving this extra money, but I tend to agree with creilmann's point that the current system seems to be double-counting against the team with 7+ open spots)

If this was a rebuild like tarvalon suggests, where the coach took over a team with 10 open slots, then I guess it merits a discussion. If you didn't recruit well or chose to take on walkons the previous season, and now have 8 slots, then you shouldn't get to keep the carryover for not filling all of your scholarships.

Lots of details to work out.

For example, what if you have 7 open slots, sign 4 FR and a couple of Juco or Transfers......starts to create various different dynamics.  Not necessarily wrong, but if one were considering a change like this one should think about unforeseen consequences...

I don't really see any reason to change it, getting rollover is a bonus for having cash left over once you've filled all your scholarships.  If you fill 6 and then stop recruiting, why should you get the same benefit that somebody who filled all their scholarships.  There shouldn't be an incentive to take walkons in any season.

The only way I would be OK with this it is if you only get to rollover scholarship money.  So you could rollover 1/4 of the difference between $90k and whatever you spent, not what is actually left in your recruiting budget.
