Draft Big Board Question Topic

Any D1 vets know the answer to this? If a player is NOT on the initial list on the Draft Big Board, is it possible to (through stats and team performance) work their way onto it? Or is the initial list set in stone?  Thanks.

by initial list, do you mean the final list at the end of the season? players definitely move into the list as the season progresses, if that is what you are asking, but that is through rating growth. if you are asking about the end of the season, i'm not sure, players off the board can get drafted though so im not sure it makes a differences from a practical standpoint. i think the answer is most likely yes but im not convinced, players may make the decision on when they get drafted before all the information is included into draft order, in which case it could go either way.

No, I was talking about the first list we see after the world rolls over.  I guess it makes sense that players could move onto the list as their ratings improve throughout the season, but I would have hoped that those ratings growths would have been taken into account anyway.

nope, potential is not a factor on the big board, only current ratings. i've had players drop from like 60 all the way off the board, a junior who was basically all reds to start the season. players definitely move a lot during the season, worth watching for sure.

I guess that makes sense since coach's practice plans vary so much.  Can't "assume" that a coach will get maximum growth out of his players, even if that is all pretty much spoonfed at this point.  Thanks for the answers.

One other question, it's been quite awhile since I've had a player who was even close to being at that level (getting drafted).  I know that stats "used" to be a part of the equation but that was seriously reduced because of coaches holding their players back.  Do they even play ANY part now?

no part on their own... national AA awards factor in though which obviously are mostly based off stats. so they can be indirectly, but directly, no - neither in the chance of going pro nor the actual draft order.
