Confusing recruit messages Topic

I am getting messages from players after sending letters like:

For all of my existence, I have followed and dreamt of gracing the hardwood at your school. Where and when can I sign a letter of intent?

As much as it pains me to admit, my father almost wept when he saw your letter. He is a big fan of your program. I cannot pass up an opportunity like this.

they both already has a scholarship offer and word on the street is that they are still struggling between my school and another.

It just seems a bit confusing and I have previously gotten messages like these along with a congrats from the ad about their signing to my school.

Yes signing period has happened and scholarship has been offered.

Is there something I'm missing our do I just need to keep spending money on them?

Don't take their responses so literally.  The word on the street has way more valuable information than you'll get from these letters.

Only worry about what the scholarship message says. That and as Bro Lunardi mentioned, the Word on the Street. Responses you get from sending letters or making phone calls are pretty much useless as another coach can be getting the exact same responses. The scholarship message is where you find out where you really stand (again, along with the WOTS).

And just an FYI-Regarding the WOTS, whichever school is listed first in the WOTS message is leading the battle.

this is great info and a lot of people seemingly still don't know it...

to the OP, letters, calls, scouting trips, hvs, cvs, all that - all those messages tell you is how much a player likes you, on your own merit - they don't take into account any other schools. also, the scale of them liking you "a lot" is pretty low compared to how high spending gets in battles. so, its basically all useless in trying to see how you stand in battles. some people seemingly can tell when players are near their tipping points on pulldowns based on SV messages. i've never pursued that (well, i did 5-6 years ago, when i thought it was useless, but it wasn't thorough, and i wasn't successful), but i could believe you could potentially get some insight from all that. but still, none of it is at all relevant in battles. scholarship messages and WOTS are your only sources there, as others have said... there is a pretty good scholarship message thread somewhere that gives you help interpreting scholarship messages, if you need it. when the WOTS comes out, it is your best source, as it tells you 100% for sure who is winning, based on who is listed first.
