Ranked Pulldowns Topic

Looking to continue knowledge growth with pulldowns and I'm wondering when they are ranked, Specifically ranked top 200 for position and not overall is there a prestige cutoff or does it really matter at all? Are they a harder pulldown then a player that is not ranked at all? Should I even care whether a player is ranked at all or just look for the phone call to let me know if he's pull downable?

EDIT: Also talking specifically coming from a D2 school

It does depend a lot on your prestige but it seems somewhat random. As an A+ I have been able to get some kids as high as the 150s for their position and this past season with an A I got a backup response from a C ranked 131 (didn't sign him). With a lower prestige its very hard to get favorable responses from them.

Player ranking definitely does matter though. If there are two kids with the same overall rating but one is ranked and one is not you are much more likely to hear back from the non ranked guy. For example this most recruiting cycle in Naismith there were several players with unusually high rankings for the their overall ratings (505 rated player who was 99 at his postion). Those players gave flat out rejections when normally someone in that ratings range would be open to being recruited.

As a B- prestige i was able to pull down the #146 SG in Knight this past year.  The guy was within 100 miles and i was able to pull him down and sign him for 7 SV and a scholarship offer only.

I signed a ranked one (154) with a C prestige DII team. He was hard to get and to pull down, I had to use over 10 STS for sure. But he did give me a message that I was a back-up for him... I think calling the coach on ranked (not too highly ranked of course) is a 10$ well spent.
