Rob Deeres and Adam Dunns hitting .280 in HBD
11/21/2014 2:20 PM
The real Adam Dunn hit in the .260's 5 of his 14 seasons in the bigs.  Even Rob Deer hit .252 and .247.

Basically, with 170 worlds HBD goes through more than the entire history of baseball every 3 months, and then when weird stuff happens it gets reported to the Forums.  It's just low-probability events happening a lot due to a very large number of trials.

I assume he means high strikeout guys.   League leaders in my three worlds(on pace for 160 or more whiffs):

18 players.  None hitting .280, one over .270, one more over .260.

I'm not sure this is a problem.

I would assume he means low contact/high power guys......Like Shinjo above. He tops out at .238 in his 6 seasons.

Or a guy like ElstonHolder in Capra. He's hit .275 and .279 in 4 seasons (.250 and .226, as well). 22-97-61-60-61

I don't think we can assume that.    Rob Deer and Adam Dunn didn't have contact ratings.

you can assume that

i meant, you can assume that is what i meant... . . . . . Looking through your list the power rating of the first 10 are: 41, 67, 85, 62, 53, 54, 21, 44, 99, and 46

it just seems to me there are a lot of guys with 50 95 50 50 50 ratings hitting for good to above average averages

11/22/2014 10:16 PM
It's nice to know I have 2 guys on that first list..
11/23/2014 12:45 AM
Well, two things... I've thought/assumed that Power rating doesn't just mean home runs, it also means the player's ability to drive the ball.  So you get guys with 70 30 60 60 70 ratings who can barely hit .240/.250.

Then also, as has been said many times, the difference between hitting .240 (he sucks!) and .280 (he's doing well) is what, two hits every ten games?
