defensive positioning - losing late Topic

I'm running 2/3 zone. If I'm losing late, should I position myself out near the perimeter of inside? Many thanks.

A lot depends on your opponent's sets.  But if I'm a coach winning late in a game I'm more likely to try to go inside if I can.  Chucking up 3-pointers is not a good way to keep the lead.  Your players are tired and even good 3-point shooters can shoot you out of your lead.

So flip that, and if you're on the other side of the ball think about playing the entry pass to keep the ball outside.

I run zone. Winning late against sim I go 3-2 zone because they will chuck it up. If playing human look at his per guys vs lp guys. If he's got good per guys and, in pbp shoots 3's at end of game, go 3-2 if not go 2-3. Losing late most people will go inside. I would play 2-3 with a minus.

But if he is losing late than opponent is winning and won't be shooting 3's

Guess, I hadn't read it correctly. In that case, if he's losing, more than likely the other team is going to pound the ball inside. Only way you can tell is to check the opponents settings from prior games. Disregard my initial post.

I, and I believe the majority of coaches, guard the perimeter more when I'm up late and the interior more when I'm down late.  If you're losing late, I'd say a 2-3 at a notch or two more (minus) than usual would be appropriate... if you're winning late, I'd start thinking 3-2.
