Help with Strange Park Effect? Topic

Hey everyone. Recently, I've been wondering about my park (Milwaukee, in Gibson). I picked a park pretty much at random when I started, and I've wondered from the start why my team is worse at home. I just finished my fourth year, and over those four years, I'm -14 wins at home. Last year my Home/Road win totals are as follows:

Home: 34
Road:  46

I looked a little closer, hoping to see what was going on, I found this seemingly bizarre Home/Road Split for my hits total last year:

Home: 632
Road: 788

156 fewer hits at home? GULP!

In fact, in each of the last four years we've had fewer hits at home on the road, though not as badly as this season. In terms of pitching, I'm giving up more hits at home, and fewer on the road, so it looks like I'm getting the worst of it at home both ways.

I'm thinking we should call U-Haul right off and pull an Art Modell, but I wanted to see what the sage Forumites have to say. Is this unheard of? Should I think about a move? Is it just a small-sample blip?

A lot of factors come into play.  First thing I'd do is look at RS/RA instead of hits.   MIL is -2 1B and +1 HR to LF/RF.

Thanks, MikeT. I'm having trouble getting my head around it, but I took your advice and looked at RS/RA (home/road) over the last four years instead, and there is a lot more balance between the two.

Now I think I picked the wrong field for my team of slap hitters, but the effects are much more modest than I imagined. I'm still thinking about pulling a Modell!

Yes, if you have a team built around contact, Milwaukee isn't really the field for you.   Singles will be suppressed and homers will be emphasized.
