This league was so fun, I decided to run it again with some tweaks. This league is all about offense to the point where teams will be rewarded for their offensive performance. The first season is wrapping up and our top team has averaged almost 152 points/game. There will be lots of scoring. It will be fun.

I have made a few tweaks to the basic structure of this league. Hopefully they add some novelty to the league without altering the spirit of the theme. Here are the rules:

1) All teams must run an up-tempo offense. Any games not spent in up-tempo will be considered forfeits.

2) All players must have an defense rating of 40 or below, except owners are allowed to have up to two players with a defensive rating of 50 or below.

3) Teams will gain wins based on their offensive performance. Last season teams gained or lost wins based on their points/game throughout the season. This season we are instituting some new tweaks:
a) Only the top-five offenses will be rewarded. Here will be the breakdown:
#1 Offense: +5 wins
#2 Offense: +4 wins
#3 Offense: +3 wins
#4 Offense: +2 wins
#5 Offense: +1 win

b) Teams will also earn a bonus win for reaching certain single game performance levels. They are as follows:
At least 183 points (regulation only)
At least 200 points (regulation or overtime)
At least 60 assists (regulation only)
At least 74 field goals made (regulation only)
At least 21 three point field goals made (regulation only)

Owners will be responsible for self-reporting these achievements. If and when they happen, sitemail me and include the date and time of the game. This will allow me to more easily tabulate records at season's end.

4) Player seasons appearing four or more times in the previous season are blacklisted. Owners are forbidden to use:

What's the league number?

No league number yet. I'm waiting until I get my founder's credit from the prior season in a couple weeks. But I'll post a league number as soon as I get it.

Quick question.  The 12-13 version of Jose Calderon that everyone used was the one at 2.5 million.  However, there are two other 12-13 versions of him, one for 4.6 mill and one for 1.6 mill.  Are those blacklisted as well?

To avoid confusion, I am including all three versions.

Wait, why are you blacklisting players? Adding the two guys for 50 should give you the diversity you want.

I think making it a restricted list, where you can choose at least one of the players, is better. Taking a lot of offense out of an offensive league.
But I'm still probably in either way.

Addressing some issues/questions:

With the increased defensive floor, this opens up seasons of Charles Barkley, Magic Johnson, Rick Barry, Tiny Archibald and others. I doubt there will be a lack of offense in this league. I like blacklists because they add more variety. I am keeping that in, no questions asked. Malcranford, if I understand your question correctly you cannot use the 05-06 Ray Allen, but you can use any other Ray Allen season.

I am also increasing the cap to $48M. The expanded player pool makes it easier to spend money and since this league is all about offense, I do not want to restrict how much people can spend too much. $48M should be enough for everyone to field a great team while still having to make some tough decisions about their roster.

I'm in

I'm postponing this league until further notice. The central conceit is that owners are rewarded for trying to run up the score as much as possible. Apparently admin will no longer adjust playoff seedings manually (even though they have done this for me before in other leagues). Until I can maybe come up with another way to make this league work, I will no longer pursue this theme. Sorry to everyone who participated last year and wanted to participate this year. 

That sucks. I liked my new team.
