I am finishing up recruiting and stuck between two guys.  I have one one hand a great defending guard who will not ever be able to score.  On the other hand I have a guy who has potential to be a great scorer, guard again, that will be an average defender.  I am building my teams around mostly defense so should I get a guy that will be able to score while not killing me on defense or stack the defense?

I almost always pick defense .. but that may or may not be a good move.

Great scorer / Average defender.   The choice is usually great defender / lousy scorer against great scorer / lousy defender.  Unless you're just being kind by saying "average".

Do you mean if by "average defender" it could be, below average?  I can see that.  But I play zone and he won't be a liability in it, especially at the guard position.

If you don't have a primary scoring option, sign one.

What their trying to say is that they would take a great scorer/avg defender over great defender/lousy scorer.  What is his def rating now and do you know his potential. Avg defender in DIII is around 40 DEF

He is around 30 with BLUE potential, working on scouting trips to figure out how blue.

If you already have mostly defenders and limited scoring, you will get more milage from the scorer. Do you have multiple dependable scoring options?

50 def esp in a zone is no prob at D3. take the scorer hands down.

Thanks guys!

it also depends on their ath/spd as well...  i would take a 45/70 ath/spd and 40 def over a 35/60 50 def if the first player also has better offense as well.
