Toughest NT WIN (ALL WORLDS) Topic

I played in seven worlds, saw mostly DIII and DII competition, but I am currently in Tarkanian DI. I think the toughest NT championship win of them all has to be :

DIII Naismith. The competition is insane. There are at least three full conferences and four others almost full. If you like DIII, I think it's the place to play.

What do you guys think?

I don't play in Naismith yet, but you wouldn't be the first to claim that DIII Naismith is the toughest (DIII at least).  And I believe jsajsa posted a little while ago that he is currently on a streak where he made 8 straight final fours in DIII Naismith.  So if the consensus is that it really is the toughest, that makes the accomplishment of 8 straight final 4's ridiculous.

everything jsajsa accomplishes is ridiculous. I think he might be the best D3 coach in the game.

10 Seasons lowest rpi is 9th and sos is 7th
  • 3 NC
  • 2 Runner ups
  • 1 F4
  • 2 E8
  • 1 S16
  • 1 2nd round
then you have jdno who has been pretty dominant the whole time just keeps runnning to pep and jsajsa in the NC F4 and E8 every season basically.

As a conf as a whole the past 10 seasons they've combined for 7 of the 10 NC 2 being taken by mrg1037 who had 4 in 6 seasons and godmaker.

In all the worlds I'm in no other conf has acheived such dominance that I've seen recently at D3, maybe Tark D2 who has 6/11 with 4 of them coming with both NC teams from the GLV and another GLV team as runner up another season

Thanks for the shout-out, the0nlyis.  I love seeing you hype Naismith's University here...and you did a pretty darn good job of it.  By the way, I didn't even realize you snuck into Naismith D3 this season.  Welcome!

I definitely agree that it is the toughest world out there..though I may be biased of course. ;)  Wooden D3 used to be the best around, but the competition has fallen off significantly the last 10 or so seasons.  Meanwhile, Naismith D3 has been trending the opposite direction with uber-elite conferences like University and Capital, and solid/up-and-coming conferences like North Coast, Freedom, CUNY, and North Atlantic.  Capital nearly sent 12 teams to the NT last season, and STILL didn't win the RPI crown...finishing second to University of course.

Speaking of University, not only have we won 7 of the last 10 NTs, but we also now own 7 of the 10 all-time conference RPI slots for D3.  My completely biased opinion is that Naismith's University is currently the best conference with the best collection of coaching talent (72 NTs combined) in any world and any division.  A group of about 24 coaches tried to prove that assertion wrong (including elite D1 coaches like robdoc and joehof), and failed (i.e. gave up).

We always welcome any new challengers!

P.S. jsajsa sucks. ;)

I would agree Naismith is the toughest DIII world but to be perfectly honest, and statistically speaking this is true ever since we got the conference up and running, it's easier to make the Naismith national title game than it is to win the UAA conference tournament. I reject any comparison to any other conference out of hand given the overall strength of Naismith. But yes, Naismith is stacked and extremely deep.

But thank you for the compliments, even you Pep! Don't worry, the odds are against getting to 9 this year (offense isn't consistent enough), but if we can somehow get to 9 I really like my shot at 10.
