Have the 2nd pick in an upcoming draft and the prospects seem a little underwhelming. The best ones are college guys projected for big increases in key categories, but that seems unlikely even though I have 18 in scouting.

Since my board has a few underwhelming players at the top, I was thinking about taking one with signability concerns and hoping he rejects my offer. Does anyone have a rough idea of what I would need to offer in order to get a comp pick for a prospect that is may sign if deal is right vs. undecided vs. probably won't sign, as well as the probability of them signing the qualifying offer, or signing at all?

That's a lot of information obviously. I've typically only drafted guys I knew would sign, or moved away from the draft towards internationals. Will post what I find from this one if I go this route though.

All you have to do to get the comp pick is to offer them their original demands, then don't change your offer. The majority of players (but not all) that are not listed as "Willing to Sign for Slot Money", will up their demands after you send them the initial offer. If/when they up their demands and you don't want to sign them, just leave your offer as-is. If you met their initial demands, you will get the comp pick.

FYI the only type of players that can be considered a 'sure thing' (with over 90% confidence) to reject your initial offer is a player listed as Probably Won't Sign, and his Mother is listed as his consultant.

Thanks. Any idea what the original demands are above slot for the various categories?

Once they have refused the offer do you have to keep it out there to get the pick?

Once it's rejected, the money should go back into your prospect money to do as you wish.
