When figuring out if a player is recruitable, will a phone call to the HS coach tell me anything a phone call to the player wouldn't? Or should I not waste money on calling HS coaches?

Sometimes offense and defense he ran in high school and how knowledgable he is at them.

Right, you'll almost always get at least one, and often both.  Also, a coach won't refuse your call, whereas a player might.
