Active OL salary over 80M? Topic

I don't play many OLs so I'm probably missing something obvious, but how is it possible to have an active team salary of over 80M?  One team in my OL has an active team salary of over 80.5M.  No trades.  A couple of waiver wire moves, though.  I realize you can (at least used to be able to) grab "discount" players off the WW, players who'd become a bit cheaper than their normally listed salary if they'd been on the WW long enough.  Could that be it?

Don't they get 1.6 Mil for AAA

Yeah, so your total salary could be 80M + 1.6 = 81.6M.

But I'm talking about active salary, which is the 2nd column you see when you open up the Salary Breakdown link.

In order to call up an AAA (valued at 200K each), you have to send a real player down from your active roster, or dump him to the WW.  That real player will have a salary of at least 200K, so I don't see how you could gain salary by calling up an AAA player.

Assume starting salary of 80M including 8 scrubs at $200k.
Send 8 scrubs down to minors, call up all 8 AAA players. Active salary = 80M
Dump all 8 200k scrubs on WW. Call up 1 player from WW (now in minors) with salary = 1.4M. Active salary = 80M.
Call up new player to majors, send down 1 AAA player. Active salary now = 80M + 1.4M - 200K = 81.2M.

Ah, that makes sense.  Thanks.

I should have known as I used to make moves like that too long ago, but since the PA/IP minimums were instituted I no longer draft enough PA/IP to do that.
