The Real Life Progressive League is looking for an owner for the SF Giants, who have a very strong team after several years of rebuilding, and
will likely get one of the top three picks in this draft (currently projected to have the #1 pick with 19 games to go to game 120). If you want another ace, Eckersley, Guidry and Candelaria are available. If not, the rotation already includes Burt Hooton (9 very good years remaining, including ace quality from 1975-1979 and 1981), Bob Forsch (long career ahead), Dave Goltz (four straight solid years ahead), Bruce Kison (many years ahead), and Ray Burris (a number of solid years, but would also make good trade bait if you drafted another ace). Top offensive players in the draft are 2B Willie Randolph and 1B/OF Jack Clark.
This league ran from 1980-2012, and restarted in the 1962 season. There are 20 teams in the league, with 4 divisions and no wild card. Most of the owners have been in the league from the very beginning. That's not to say you can't join if you are new to progressives, but it's an indication of the stability of the league. I'm happy to coach you through the progressive process as long as you are committed to a few seasons.
This progressive league is like most, except that any player who started his career in a season is available to be drafted that season in the first round. In other words, in 1975, Ron Guidry is a "Prospect" that can be drafted -- he started his career in 1975 but was not WIS eligible until 1977. A prospect would join any players you have on the DL until he is WIS eligible. Draft order is based on reversed standings at game 120 (with a minimum wins rule). Draft slots are based on your number of keepers. Keep 20 and you get 5 draft rounds. If you select a prospect in the 1st round (meaning someone who played in 1974 but wasn't WIS eligible), you can pick up your 25th player in the supplemental draft round, which occurs after the normal draft is finished. The rest is pretty standard, with 4 AAA that you select from the 1974 season, and a DH is used in the AL.
Please sitemail if interested, and for further explanation of the rules.
