Sad that it is already too late for 30+ worlds out there but...

I can't think of a good reason why when a world folds and/or merges that the records and all historical data couldn't be stored in an archive section.

I think if WIS would offer something like this there wouldn't be quite so much resistance to mergers and it would help facilitate shrinking the # of worlds to a more appropriate level.

Seems to me that a reduction in the number of worlds isn't good business.    HBD isn't big business.    32 owners.    Assuming they make $15 on each team at rollover(very generous considering credits, discounts and bundles), $480 each new season.    There are 168 worlds.   At best, they average 3 rolls per year.    That's less than 250k a year.   Then you have to pay for operating costs.    FOX might make 100k per year when all is said and done.   That's hardly worth keeping open.

And it seems that you're more than help them reduce that 100k.

Doesn't make much sense to add a feature that will help reduce the meager profit they make now.

Worlds sitting idle for months and months doesn't help them make money.

If the number of worlds were reduced significantly but they turned 4 seasons per year instead of only 2 or 3 then they'd still make decent money, and wouldn't lose as many owners.

Merged worlds aren't a cure-all.    I've seen plenty of Season 2 worlds after merge have 6+ openings.   Owners don't necessarily love their teams, they love the winning.   When that doesn't happen, they move on.

It's not a cure all. Nor did I ever claim that it was.

If we are saturated with 40-50% more worlds than is necessary, reducing the number by 2-3% isn't going to have a great effect on the problem.

I guess all I'm saying is merging should be an absolute last resort with repercussions.   One of the repercussions is losing the world history.   If that's important to you, don't allow your world to deteriorate to the point that merging has to become a legit option.

I mean, seriously, merge candidates become that way for a reason.
