DH Amateur Draft Prospect but Good Fielding Topic

Has anyone ever seen this?  The amateur draft for the league I am in is taking place 7/5 AM and there is a top prospect who is listed as a DH but is projected to have pretty good fielding stats (70+ range, 95+ glove, only 30 strength).  How far off can these ratings be?  I really like him but am a NL team and am worried that I will draft him and the stats will be horrible.

Any light shed is appreciated, thanks.

If he projects to only 30 arm strength, he doesn't meet the recommended minimum of any position on the field. The only position I'd think you'd consider putting him at in the field would be 1B.

What is your scouting budget?  If he even comes close to those ratings, that's a stellar 1B/LF.  Does he have pitch calling?

Sounds like you don't have a lot in scouting for whichever of HS/COL he is. Seems like since the updates, lower quality projections are a lot further off than they used to be. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he's actually a 30/35/30/30 kind of guy.

Advanced Scouting = 10

High School Scouting = 2

ADV has no impact on the projections you see before the draft. HS scouting of 2 is useless. Assuming you have better COL scouting, stay away from HS players for the first 20 rounds or so. Maybe 24. If you want to take a HS player, picking one from a state you like or with a unique name would be as good a method as basing it on scouting.

So did you get him

Here's the player that I drafted #10 in this draft....  I think the latest update has made things very blurry with low ADV and Low HS/COL Scouting... It's not likely that I drafted a guy #10 that will be close to this good..

18yr old P, S/R Drafted #10...  14 HS Scouting.

No, I didn't.  I decided to pass on him.  He ended up being a good player but his projections now aren't even close to what he looked like leading up to the draft.

$2M generates random numbers, not projections.

Looks like the changes to make scouting a little fuzzier might be applying all the way up to $20M scouting too. Amateur draft prospects just got released and I'm seeing a SP prospect with projected durability of 40. I've never seen anyone have higher than 35 durability with a stamina over 60 under normal development. Maybe he's a unique case or I'm just overestimating how accurate 20 scouting ever was.
