I've always been really into the advanced metrics (or tempo free stats) like Kenpom. It takes pace out of equation so you can compare apples to apples. I put together some excel spreadsheets so I can calculate that stuff out.
I ran your game results and I got a Defensive Efficiency of 79.6 points allowed per 100 possessions.
For comparison sake, I did this also for the team in my D3 world with the lowest Points Allowed Per game total of 51.0ppg (Penn St Altoona) and I got a Defensive Efficiency of 67.9 points allowed per 100 possessions.
However, a big thing that is missing is the SOS. I have no way of doing the adjusted OE and DE like kenpom does and it'd probably take doing the math for every single team to do. So it's probably not feasible to ever get there but still fun to look at and talk about. Instead, I like to look at teams within my conference since even though you have unbalanced conf schedules, it's a lot closer than including non conf schedules.
I'd like to post these excel documents to the forums so other people can use them but I'm not sure how. I don't think a google doc would work because all of the formulas are lost when I cut and paste, not to mention the formatting. Unless I'm doing it wrong? Is there another way?
