Can This Guy Start in High D1? Topic

I am at West Virginia in the Big East and will have 6 SR's next season, so expectations are high.  I will only be replacing 1 starter who will need to play SG or SF.  I run a fastbreak offense (man defense) and play my SF as just another guard.  Below is who I know will be starting:

PG - Marty Brett
SF - Michael Record
PF - William Stover or Daryl Dasilva
C - Thomas Seegar

The guy I have been thinking about starting at SG is Darrell Patrick.  Now his obvious weakness is ATH and DEF, but he put up some good numbers off the bench this season.  My other option is starting SOPH Richard Taylor at PG and moving Brett to SG or SF.  He has a lot of room to grow still, and will be much better with another season of improvement.  A mark against Taylor is his FT shooting, which I have found to be hugely important in the FB offense.  Which lineup do you guys think would be best?  I'm leaving towards starting Patrick at SG, then maybe re-evaluating halfway through the year after more development from Taylor.

Thanks for any help or feedback!

I would go with Taylor as the starter and put massive distribution for Patrick off the bench. You are badly in need of another 3PT shooter.

I'm in complete agreement with stinenavy.  Taylor is a better starter that is going to be a perfect role player with your starters.  He will be able to match up defensively with the type of opposition that you are sure to see at West Virginia.  Give Patrick high distro off the bench, but not too high.  He has weak LP scoring ability , and his low ATH rating means he will have trouble finishing near the basket.  If there was a 6th man of the year in HD, Patrick would seem like a top candidate on paper.  He is going to score very easily off the bench and should be able to set up your other players very well, which would give him more assists.

I think Patrick would foul out very quickly some games as a starter due to that DEF rating but agree with these guys giving him a ton of distribution off the bench.
