Searching for fielding Topic

Does anyone know how to set searches in team-building to take fielding into account? For example, if I'd like to get an OF who is no worse than a C/C Fld/Rng, is there a way to put that parameter into the search engine? Up until now, all I have been able to do is put in parameters for the statistics and sort by fielding, but that doesn't get me the results I'd most like to get.

Please, also, if this is confusing, help me to clarify the post for anyone who might be able to help.

Yes, there are two ways. Make sure you have the Advanced Search on (at the bottom of the page)

1. Click on one of the 8 drop downs and set it to Fielding, Range or Arm. Set the range you want, keeping in mind that the letters correspond to numbers (D- = 1, D = 2... A+ = 12).

2. Click on one of the 8 drop downs and set it to RRF - (position) or FPCT# - (position). Set the range you want, keeping in mind that you are searching by the actual RRF (Real Range Factor) and Field%#, so the 1-12 values do not apply.

Definitely use strategy 2. The letter grades sometimes hide significant differences. There can be huge differences in RRF between two players graded A+. Similarly, there can often be an insignificant difference between an A and an A+.

There is a much bigger difference between Richie Ashburn (A+, 3.4) and rookie Mike Trout (A+, 2.81) than there is between Trout and 1990 Gary Maddox (A,2.79).

Also, beware low fldg% combined with great range. They'll make more errors than you think because they'll reach so many balls. That may not be too bad in the infield, but those 2 base errors in the outfield really hurt.

Yeah, sorry, I should have mentioned that strategy 2 is by far the superior one for those reasons.
