Need some help with a question I've never encountered before.  I have about 1mil in coach salary left and only need a AA hitting coach.  Can I wait for a certain point for a ML or AAA level coach that is not hired to drop down and accept a large sum of $ to coach AA or will they never lower their level demands?  I'd rather pay the $$ to a better coach than waste it and sign a scrubby AA level coach.  Thanks in advance.

They will drop to the next level when the higher level has hired all it's coaches.   It will be late in coach hiring.

Will their demands change or do I need to make an offer ahead of time? Can a ml coach drop to AA? Thanks

Only if AAA fills also.   Making a 1m offer to a coach still waiting for a ML/AAA job will not convince him to coach AA.    Coach hiring really needs to be improved.

I used to be able to nab some AAA coaches toward the end of the hiring cycle from the ML candidates... I hadn't for a long time though and always wondered how that worked. Now I know why, thanks MikeT. Totally needs to be improved.

I've been suggesting, for years, that coaches don't ask for specific levels.   They can still ask for 2.8m but someone could pay them that to coach AA.

+1, emphatically.

You can get coaches to drop one level below their demands.  I tried 2 levels again today and it didn't work, again.  You have to exceed their demands to get them to drop that one level.  So if ML fills, the ML coaches will drop their demands to AAA, and then you can get them in AA by exceeding their new demands.

+2

AND I would add:  Let coaches ask for more money if they want, but give us the option to auto-rehire any and all coaches we want to.  In real life, no coach or manager leaves a good job just because he wants to see what's out there.

That was another suggestion I made.    Auto-rehire for 10%. 25%, 50% and 100%.

600k would be 660k, 825k, 1,237,500, 2,475,000.   At that point, they're pricing themselves back into the market.
