ok stupid question #1: in the 90 mil league, you are not allowed to have "the same season/team combination for any two twisted players". does this mean that we can't have players from the same team (lets say Phila) as long as they are from different years?

That rule means that if you're using the 2015 Phillies and that team has both Chase Utley and Cole Hamels, you can't twist both Hamels and Utley to another real life team (for the sake of example, let's say 2014 Phillies) that they also both played for, and then pick one teammate from the 2014 Phillies for each of them.

The exception to the rule is if you want to use both, you can qualify one of them (let's say Hamels) as the TEAMMATE of the other(Utley, in this case). Downside being you then would NOT be able to count Hamels as a twisted player from your chosen team, the 2015 Phillies, and would instead have to find someone else to twist to get to 12 twisted players.

ok I am still not getting it. I have two guys who played for team X. I want to twist them to team Y but in different years. is that legal?

For the third situation, that WOULD be legal if you classify one of them as a TWIST and the other as that twist's TEAMMATE. It would NOT be legal if you wanted to count both Hamels and Utley as TWISTS.

You only need to twist 12 of them and use one more, so that shouldn't be a problem.

OK, on the $90M League: What if...
Twisted season is 1999 (i.e. Alex Rodriguez Seattle Mariners is the anchor player)
Teammate A is using a season from 1998, with the twisted team. (Jamie Moyer Seattle Mariners)
Teammate B is using a season from 1998, but from another team. (Ken Griffey Jr. Cincinnati Reds)
P.S. I used those names/seasons as examples, not as actual ones.

Or must all twisted players be from different seasons, period?

That situation is legal. All twisted players must be from different team/season combinations, not necessarily different seasons.
Each of your twisted players must bring along exactly one teammate from the team you've twisted them to.   Now I am confused in his example Jamie Moyer is legit since he played with Arod on the 1999 team.  But teammate B should be a teammate of Moyer on the mariners in 1998 not of Arod in 1999.  Therefore the Griffey selection on the Reds 1998 is not correct.  It should be Griffey of the 1998 Mariners.  

I am totally confused if the Reds 1998 is allowed for Teammate B.  it would be Ok for Teammate A because Griffey would be a teammate of Arod.  In that case the teammate B would need to be from the Reds 1998.

I think the terminology and the fact that Griffey Jr didn't play for the Reds in 1998 is causing confusion. In nordawg's example, both Moyer and Griffey would be twists from the 1999 team, not teammates.

Staying within the confines of reality, nordawg would be able to use either Moyer or Griffey Jr's 1998 season but, since they both played for Seattle in 1998, he would not be able to count both as twists. He could count one as a twist and one as the teammate of that twist, however. Alternately, nordawg could use 1998 for Moyer and another season for Griffey, and then he would be able to count both of them as twists from the 1999 team. In that case, he would need to bring along a teammate for each; one from the 1998 Mariners, and another from whatever team/year he twisted Griffey Jr to.

The teammate of each twisted player must be from the same team and year as the twisted player.

Correct.  I was getting really ****** based on your first explanation since I have already correctly built my team.  (not that it is going to win but built to the rules) Thanks for confirming.
