What happens to the FCP beyond half court? Topic

Once you cross over the half court line, I assume the Full Court Press falls into a man to man defense?  For purposes of this game, what I mean is: if my opponent plays press, and I look at his lineup, can I assume that his PG will cover my PG, his SG defends my SG, etc (once we cross over the half court line)?

I'm 99.9999999% certain the FCP doesn't turn into M2M once the half court line is crossed - some coaches use two defenses, e.g. half court press and man-to-man (I did that a bit last season with my team in Crum). When a coach uses strictly FCP, it should be FCP whenever the opposing team has the ball, no matter where on the court the players are.

Double teaming is not an option when one plays FCP. Please, someone correct me if I'm wrong (as I frequently am), but isn't FCP essentially double-teaming whatever player on the opposing team has possession of the ball?

tl;dr - no, I'm pretty sure FCP doesn't fall into M2M once the teams cross mid-court.

FCP is non-stop double teaming of whoever has the ball over the full length of the floor (think the old 40 minutes of hell and Nolan Richardson days at Arkansas...)

FCP & man/zone is pressing to the half-court stripe and then settling in to either man or zone depending on which you have paired with it. You can designate double teams in either of these set ups in the half court. And, yes, in a FCP/man the man-to-man matchups would be PG on PG, SG on SG, etc.

Thought I read somewhere, if the full court press is broken, it turns into a "poor man to man defense".

its HCP & man/zone, but otherwise, yes...

anyway OP, yeah, FCP is FCP the whole way. HCP is pressing to half court, as you would expect from their names (full court press / half court press). what half court press turns into at half court entirely depends on what you set it to be.

I think you may be talking about the FB turning into a "poor man's Motion".
