is there any way you guys could help make defense a little more realistic by setting up individual match ups?  I'm just wondering because it's very frustrating for me not to put my best perimeter defender against their top scorer.  I realize I can try to match up positions with him before the start of the game, but if my best perimeter defender isn't my best ball handler, and their top threat happens to be their PG, that's not a real beneficial move for me.  Just an idea, thanks!

It is not as easy as you think. Do you get to pick only only one of his players with each of your players. Can you set a backup to also guard your opponents best shooter. Can you shift your starting SG to guard his PG when your bacupk PG comes in?

So you would need some kind of matrix set up for every player.. And what happens when you use one guy as an SF and SG at different times in the game.

Yeah that's a good point, but real sure how they'd implement other than if both are in the game at the same time, that's who's matching up with who. Another thing I'd like to see is stamina being more realistic. It just seems like players tire too quickly. There's really no reason why a starter with a 85+ for stamina shouldn't be able to give you 30+ quality min in any scheme. Hell, Monte Morris of Iowa State plays 37+ a night (a ton of full games even) and they get up and down as much as anyone nationally. I'd also like to see the ability to be able to redshirt two guys rather than just one...just some other ideas!

Sure, if you are gonna make it 100% accurate in all scenarios then that's how it must be done, but it doesn't have to be that complicated. I admit that I'm not a programmer or coder in any way, but let me propose a different seemingly simpler solution. Which is that a coach could only select defensive match-ups for your starters.

In its most limited fashion, it could be limited to selecting which opposing starter that your starter defends; and any starting player (or backups) with the default setting or not set to a specific match-up would simply guard the opposing position that has become vacant. In a slightly more advance version, you could still limit match-up selections to your starters, but allow them a first and second option, regardless of whether those options are the opponents starters or not, and simply use the cascading default notion previously mentioned (which already kinda happens in the depth chart anyways).

That idea is just off the top of my head, so I think there are ways to do it without turning it into a project this size of the Hoover Dam. But again I could be completely wrong about all this, seriously.
