Started an exhibition team

Also any other general tips

Coach a regular season has random leveling where an exhibition season doesn't. Example: player x averages 10 rebounds a game for a real life season. His numbers for a sim season will be fairly close depending on the make up of your team. Random leveling occurs so the sim can balance the season stats. The problem people have is the extreme variations like a guy fouling out in the 1st half, just to get his total fouls up to his averages or the 5 assist per game guy going off for 16 one night or the 80% free throw shooter going 2-8 from the line one game because his FT% was too high. Exhibition seasons don't care about that, plus I don't believe there's any fatigue or some of the defensive settings in exhibition.

The above post is completely inaccurate. If you want to learn more about succeeding in the Sim check out ashamael's threads on building better teams and on usage.

You will want to draft less total minutes and less usage in an open league (and I'd advise against using Allen Iverson).

for the record: What coach is saying is not quite wrong, but it's not quite right either.  Normalization does occur over a long enough timeline (10 games is not even close to enough) but it is not forced in the manner he suggests.  Every possession is a die roll.  It is not dependent on any past die roll, but using probability, if you roll the die enough times, you eventually get close to the expected results.  That's the way it is supposed to work.

There's a flip side to that coin:  some owners believe there's some thresholds built in to the sim to limit the success of certain owners and/or teams that are doing well.  That borders on conspiracy theory, which is ridiculous, but after you've been here enough years, it appears less and less ridiculous.  With that in mind, forced normalization is not that far outside the realm of possibility.

I haven't been here since 2002, but I have been here since 2008, so my experience isn't exactly small.  I have had some success in those 8 years and have tested many, many mechanics of the sim.  My experience says that ben is correct.  Do what you will, but the threads he speaks of are worth a read.

This. Normalization (or as coach says leveling) isn't built in to the sim or forced by any of the programmers. It is a statistical principal.

I am going to jump in and say I was the youngest on here when I started.

Can anyone beat 15? lol

I played (3 seasons I think) under a different username (which I lost the password for) in 2002. I was 14.
