Just throwing this out there (and I'll be the first to admit that I'm not an expert on the ranking system though I'm familiar enough with it), but I saw something after the first game in Smith DII last night that made me say...reeaaaaalllllllyyyy???
Okay, the initial #1 and #2 seeds lost at home last night, both had the two highest beginning ratings to start the season, both lost to other top #10 ranked teams, both teams are in conferences with C+ prestiges --- but the #1 team with an A+ prestige that lost to the #4 team (by 14pts) only dropped to #7 while the #2 seed with a B+ prestige that lost to the #8 team (by 22pts) dropped completely out of the rankings.
HOWEVER, what was even more surprising is that between the two winning teams which both have almost the exact same rating, both come from conferences with B- prestiges, and both won on the road --- but the #4 team with an A prestige that beat the #1 team moved up to #3 (1120) while the #8 team that beat the #2 team jumped up to #2 (1124).....note the initial #3 jumped to #1 after they won at home against the #15 team.
So, hence the *logic* tagging, just my initial thought is that given the initial #1 team only dropped to #7 then it must view that team very highly in comparison to the other initial #2 team, even after the loss....therefore, how could the team that beat them which was initially more valuable to the computer get jumped by a team that was initially less valuable as them and beat an opponent less valuable to the computer (both before and after the first game)?????
p.s. If you stopped reading this terribly worded post a long time ago I don't blame you, if you did then you're a saint and i would love to hear your opinion, thanks yo.
