Maybe jbohrman reserved the team. I know if you reserve a team its different than applying for the job. If you reserve you get the team. Maybe he reserved it for next season. I'm not 100% sure but sound like this is what it might be.

Like he was once in the world and is obviously qualified? That would make sense. I still find it hard to believe a job like Kansas wouldn't be open for everybody who can apply in the offseason.
to play devils advocate...didn't everybody in that world have the chance to apply for it after the end of the previous season?

Yes, this. There was a recent 5 page thread about this topic.

And yes-if a coach reserves a team during the season you'll get a news release.

I've seen this happen before where the same cycle the national championship game is simmed, there were 3 coaching announcements. The schools were all SIM controlled, but the announced coaches never took over for the school and they remained SIM.

Yes but he isn't taking over it this season, he is taking over it next season. I just feel other people should get a shot to get them this coming season along with him. But, I might be in the minority there.
Check out this thread. You aren't in the minority...kind of a chicken or the egg dilemma.

just so you know, when the job first opened, ONLY coaches who were active got a shot at it. the guy who took it, who isnt in the world - this is his first shot! (during the season is his first shot - he cannot apply during the normal jobs period).

so, if you want to say everyone else should get a shot at it the 2nd time, then you should also say, that dude should have gotten a shot at it already, too! :)

Is the sign up process as follows:

1. NC game is simmed season ends.

2. Job period opens at 12:01am the following day (I think nobody can sign up for anything during this period).

3. Job period opens for coaches who have any type of resume in that world (including returning coaches). New coaches can not sign up/reserve anything in this period. Those coaches who do not auto-renew and have no seasons remaining, their schools go SIM the following morning. Coaches who have any type of resume can apply for any available openings.

4. Job period closes for existing coaches at 12:01am. Season rolls over a few hours later. I believe New/returning coaches can sign up for teams that are still open and not taken by existing/hired coaches and immediately take control.

5. Recruiting begins. New/returning coaches can now reserve teams but do not take control until the season ends.

I'm still telling you, you are wrong about this. Tark was just in job applications, and I have a resume but no current team. I was able to in and look and the jobs, and apply (which I obviously didn't do). I wasn't able to on the join a new world page, but was able to apply on that world tab with that drop down menu on the right side of any team page. Meaning coaches with existing resumes have 3 opportunities to pick up teams. 1. They can apply for jobs like everyone else currently in the world in the 3 days of job applications. 2. After the world rolls over they can choose any team still available for the upcoming season. 3. After the season starts they can reserve any available team for the next season.
NEW coaches (one who have NEVER coached in that world) can not apply when the jobs period first open as I viewed Phelan which is in jobs period right now from my son's account and he can not apply or reserve a team.

Returning coaches who do have a resume can apply to open jobs once jobs period opens.

However, I can't see how logistically you can delay the assignment of a team as any coach who is New/Returning will have to of paid money/used credits to get a season and WIS would get blasted if they didn't deliver something for their purchase (bad enough they won't actually get something until the season begins anew but at least they're guaranteed to get that team.

Can you imagine paying $12.95 for a season of HD, waiting 4 weeks to actually get control only to find out that you got beaten out for the job by someone else and can't get anything else since jobs period closed (and having to wait yet another season)...
