I thought of an interesting new progressive.

1. We will start out with a franchise draft. One round, 24 teams.
2. For the first season, each team will use the season AFTER the franchise's worst season ever, based on winning percentage. (A fairly equal way to start it is by using the franchise's worst season ever, but that season would be ridiculously bad. So, let's not and say we did.)
3. For every consecutive season, that team will move one year forward in time. (2011-12 Bobcats to 2012-13)
4. You do not have automatic access to your franchise's rookies.
5. Kevin Durant was in college in 2006-07. If you are using the 2006-07 Seattle SuperSonics, I will declare that Kevin Durant is "in college" before the season starts. When you get to 2007-08, you will not get Kevin Durant because he is a rookie.
This is how rookies will be distributed:
6. Anyone who wants to "visit" Kevin Durant can do so before that season (2006-07) is over. You get three "visits" maximum to any of the players "in college," which you will post in a thread.
7. After you play the 2006-07 season, a "draft" will happen, but it won't be an actual draft. I will assign a number to each team that chose to "visit" Kevin Durant, and use Random.org to determine which teams gets him. I will post the results in a thread.
8. When a player became a free agent in real life, that player will be a free agent for your team. You get three "meetings," which will work exactly the same way as "visits," and then the player will be randomly assigned.
9. Obviously, you will only have so many openings before the season. You can only visit or meet with exactly the number of players for which you have openings to fill.
10. For example, let's say you know you will have a rookie and a free agent before next season. You can visit with that rookie before this season ends. You will have 2 openings in your roster next season, due to the number of rookies and free agents that you have. If you visited your rookie, you can meet with a free agent. If you wanted to visit two rookies instead, you can. If you get both rookies, obviously you will not be able to meet with a free agent because you will have filled all of your openings. If you miss out on one or both rookies, you can meet with one or two free agents (in real life, free agency happens after the draft). Since you have to have a 12 man roster, the process will not stop until you have successfully signed free agents. Once you have visited a rookie for the one spot you will have, you have to wait until that rookie is "drafted." If you miss out, you can visit a different rookie, or wait until free agency. If you miss out on signing a free agent, you can meet with another free agent until you sign one.
11. It is possible that a player will be a rookie and a free agent simultaneously, given that every team is on a different timeline. That is O.K. Don't worry about paradoxes. I'm sure they'll never meet. We all know the consequences of that would be disastrous.
12. Trading players and picks for other players or picks is allowed.

Any takers?
